London Underground and London Bus Victoria Line, Blue Straub Moquette Christmas Stocking

Back in 1965 Misha Black commissioned a moquette for London Transport which would become a design icon. The block pattern of blues and greens is known as Straub, after its designer - Marianne Straub. The striking pattern was originally intended to launch the Victoria line in the late 60s but wasn’t ready in time. So it found its way onto the Bakerloo, Northern and Piccadilly lines instead. Some buses even sported Straub too. Like ‘District’, its synonymous with London’s design past and many of us look at this particular moquette with true fondness and happy memories of travelling around the capital. Have a slice of history for your life.

Put another log on the fire, pour yourself and Santa a glass of Port and let your mind wander back in time to the days when rail travel was truly relaxing and joyful.
