Southbank Line Ruby by Kirkby Design is a contemporary interpretation of classic London Transport upholstery, taking the familiar geometry of traditional bus moquette and reworking it in a brighter, richer palette for modern interiors.

The design retains the unmistakable character of historic London bus seating, but the use of ruby red, charcoal, grey and brighter contrasting tones gives it a completely different feel. Rather than looking like fabric taken directly from a vintage vehicle, it brings a recognisable piece of classic London design into spaces where traditional moquette might previously have felt too dark, heavy or utilitarian.

Produced as a woven upholstery velvet, Southbank also has a softer and more luxurious finish than traditional transport moquette. Its viscose-rich pile gives the colours depth and a subtle change in appearance as the light moves across the surface.

It works particularly well on armchairs, dining chairs, benches, banquettes, stools, cushions and headboards, as well as in restaurants, hotels and other interiors looking for something distinctive without becoming overtly transport-themed.
