Named after Marianne Straub (1909–1994), whose career ranged from the 1951 Festival of Britain to ocean liner interiors and the Victoria Line, this design belongs to a proud tradition of groundbreaking women shaping London's transport, from Enid Marx and Marion Dorn to Harriet Wallace-Jones and Emma Sewell of Wallace Sewell.

For generations of Londoners, these colours were part of the journey to school, a trip into the West End or the bus home after an evening with friends and loved ones.
