The Northern line’s current tube stock dates from 1995. Following many decades of ageing trains, beginning their life as far back as 1959 (for a time even further to 1938), the arrival of these new ones did away with guards and heralded a new, fresh feel for the oldest deep-level tube line. The moquette applied majored on black in its design - the same colour of the line on the iconic tube map. Grey featured in it too - perfect for hiding the dirt but perhaps much more muted than other moquette designs. With matching black grab rails at launch to go with the moquette, the colour scheme was a hit among the Northern line’s passengers, who saw the new trains as a refreshing change from the tired ones that came before it. Available in a variety of product lines.
