Collection: Colindale
This London Underground moquette is a favourite among collectors for its repetitive rural design - apt considering it was fitted to the revolutionary 1938 stock tube train, which carried passengers from the city to the suburbs daily. Its vivid mix of reds and greens in a vertical leaf formation was commissioned by Christian Barman, the then Publicity Officer for London Transport and was designed by Marion Dorn. It’s thought the colour contrast was to accentuate the red action of the city with the green serenity of the capital’s ‘burbs. Found on the brand new trains on the Bakerloo and Northern lines, this timeless classic is available in a variety of product lines.
