Manufactured by A. W. Chapman Ltd, these substantial, adjustable driver's seats were designed for long shifts at the controls. The Chapman name remains visible on the seat hardware, a reminder of the engineering behind these distinctive chairs.

When the D78 Stock trains disappeared from the District Line, their interiors began disappearing too. We personally rescued these driver's seats from Booth's scrapyard, recognising that something so special deserved another life.

They have now been professionally restored and reupholstered by Lynn The Trim at Strawberry Hill in the iconic Misha Black District Line moquette, with its unmistakable orange, yellow, brown and black pattern. The replacement armrests complement the refurbished seats, while the original Chapman construction and adjustment hardware preserve their railway character.
