Glasgow Subway (Clockwork Orange) Moquette Fabric Sold by the Metre
The Clockwork Orange Moquette was crafted by Russell Stuart for the Glasgow Metro refurbishment in 1981. Inspired by the vibrant hues of the Glasgow Metro, particularly the distinctive orange, the design also pays homage to the iconic London buses.
This Moquette embodies the lively and dynamic spirit of Glasgow, where it served its purpose. The choice of orange, upbeat and energetic, was influenced by the limited leather colours available at the time.
Designed in the wake of Glasgow's tenure as the City of Culture, this Moquette reflects the artistic renaissance flourishing in the city. As Anna Campbell-Jones eloquently described, it is both "playful and colourful."
Just as it was originally intended, let this iconic classic find a special place in your life and heart.
Perhaps the most rewarding projects are the ones you design and complete yourself. We sell moquette off the roll, by the linear metre, for your own upholstery and handicraft endeavours. Whether you fancy a set of 4 dining chairs in your favourite design, a footstool in that fabric you travelled to school on or even your own crafting in the fabric you fell in love on , we have rolls of moquette to choose from. Top tip: Moquette looks great when mounted and framed too.
Diameter is 125cm and all orders are sent as a continuous piece unless otherwise agreed.

Moquette is super-duper tough. If it gets a bit dirty, a good firm brush should do the job... For something really stubborn try some carpet cleaner. If in doubt - drop us a line.
